I John 2:26-27 “I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit – just as it has taught you, remain in him.”
I once visited with a lady who had spent much of her childhood and young adult years in a cult. When I asked her how she was introduced to Christ, she stated that she found Him in the Bible. “Our leaders claimed to teach the Bible, but what I read in God’s Word did not line up with what they taught. So I asked God to show me the truth, and He did,” she told me.
Amazing? Not really. Any time we ask God to show us His truth, He will do so. He delights in doing so! He has given us His written Word – His truth in black and white. And if we need a tutor, the Holy Spirit is right there to help us out, to point us in the right direction.
Any time we have a question about God’s Word, it is fine to seek the assistance of a pastor, spiritual leader, or mature Christian. But what we hear from any person must always be measured against God’s Word, which is the final authority on any matter of truth. Ask Him to show you the truth, and He will.
Dear Father, Thank you for Your Word, and for Your Holy Spirit, who helps me to understand Your truth. Please help me to measure everything I hear against Your Word.
Amen
What a wonderful truth this is!
Jeanette, I’m such a slow learner, I need more tutoring than most!
