To God Be the Glory

Philippians 4:20 “To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

More than twenty years ago, one of the great singers and songwriters of our time wrote a song titled, “To God Be the Glory.” I wonder if Andrae Crouch had been studying this passage in Philippians as he penned the now famous lyrics of that song.

Paul wrapped up his address to the Philippians with a big “thank you” for their generosity. He assured them that God, who had used them to meet Paul’s needs, would now be generous to them, as well. God is good and kind and benevolent and generous beyond measure. To Him be the glory!

For this post, I’d like to defer to Mr. Crouch. I think he says it better than I ever could:

How can I say thanks
for the things you have done for me
Things so undeserved
Yet you give to prove your love for me
The voices of a million angels
Cannot express my gratitude
All that I am or ever hope to be
I owe it all to Thee

(Chorus)
To God be the glory
To God be the glory
To God be the glory
For the things He has done
With His blood, He has saved me
By His power, He has raised me.
To God be the glory
For the things he has done

(Bridge)
Just let me live my life
And let it be pleasing, Lord to Thee
And should I gain any praise,
Let it go to Calvary.

With His blood, He has saved me
By His power, He has raised me.
To God be the glory
For the things he has done.

Amen, and Amen

Oh, how beautiful it is to give thanks to God for all He has done for us.
There will never be enough words and enough time to do so.
    Love,
    Jlo
