Snippets of conversations from the North Texas Christian Writers Conference this weekend:
TJ: Oh, my gosh! I love your hair! What did you do to it?
Me: I cut it in a slanted bob. Do you like it?
*******
Tina (in the car): There has got to be a Starbucks around here somewhere. I need Starbucks!
Me: I knew I liked you, Tina!
*********
Alyssa: I have to leave the conference early. I don’t want to, but I really have to get some work done.
Me (out loud): Oh, I totally understand. We’ll miss you, but you do what you need to do.
Me (in my head): WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I don’t want Alyssa to leave!
********
Me: Congratulations, Cheryl, on winning first place in the non-fiction article competition. I am so proud of you!
Cheryl: Thank you! I was so surprised!
Jeneal: I’m proud of her, too. But it would have been nice if she hadn’t entered, so one of the rest of us could have had a chance. 😉
Me: My sentiments, exactly. 😉
*******************
A fellow writer, to my dear friend and mentor, Kathy Ide: Kathy, I have found your workshops so helpful. I just love you, and all your classes.
Me: Let her edit a couple of your papers. You won’t like her nearly as much.
(Note: After that same paper gets published, you will once again be madly in love with Kathy. 🙂 )

I also found kindred spirits in fellow pastor’s wife, Robin Bryce, fellow writer Wendy Saxton, fellow homeschooling mom Roxanne Anderson, writer and columnist Kim Talbert, and many, many others.
Oh, yeah, and I learned a lot about writing and publishing. (Ahem.)
I frowned as I worked on my lecture yesterday, knowing you gals were learning great things and having such fun!
We did have fun! But it wasn’t the same without you. Next year, as you said, you won’t have so much prep work! 😉
I felt like I was peeking in on your conference! Thanks for the snippets!
Oh, Jeanette! I wish you could have been there. You would have loved it. The North Texas Christian Writers Conference is one of the best around, in my opinion!
You are too funny! And I’m not THAT addicted to Starbucks . . . oh wait, yes I am. 🙂
We are two peas in a pod – or, rather, two coffee beans in a mug! 😉 It was so fun finally getting to meet you, Tina!
Who was it that said, “I think this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship . . .” 😉 ?
Renae, I was so tickled to see I had been included in your snippets. What a terrific conference! It was really great to get to meet you! And, I’m a big Starbuck’s fan too. But (And I hope we can still be friends after you hear this.) my special treat from there is Chi Tea.
I have actually come to terms with the fact that Cheryl won in the only catagory to which I submitted. I’m just calling her, “My friend the award-winning author.”
It was a great conference, Jeneal! I’m glad Cheryl is good-natured about our teasing! 😉
As for the Chi Tea thing . . . well, I guess I’ll let it slide. 😉
