Master Builder

Ephesians 2:21 – 22 “In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”

I love these verses. They give me hope for us as Christians, and they give me hope for myself, as an individual. Right now, this very minute, God is working, building, forming and fitting us together into a masterpiece.

The building Paul refers to is the church. That is you and me, remember? God is gathering souls and putting them together to form His church, which He will one day proudly show off. He adds a little bit of you, a little splash of me, a touch of Brother So-and-So . . . each one adds just the right amount of strength or beauty or functionality to the final product.

I love that He is also working on me, all by myself. He knows I need lots of work! But somehow, He sees enough value in me to keep chipping away. He will never toss me out, no matter how many flaws I have. Instead, He will keep working, keep perfecting me until I am exactly who He created me to be.

I am a work in progress. The great thing is, the Master Builder lives on the property – my soul – while He works. He never leaves me alone. Instead, He diligently whittles and polishes and shines my spirit, consistently working to make me into a masterpiece.

Dear Father, Thank You for making me into something beautiful. I want to be just like You.

Amen

Love this, R. We are in the process of moving into a permanent church home building, and our church body is busy remodeling, painting, etc. Neat to think of the Lord as “builder” in each of our individual souls in this process. Thanks for the great word picture!

How appropriate for me today! I feel God chipping and molding me inside and out. Thank you. I love you!

Both this and yesterday’s post made me think of Psalm 118:22 ‘the stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’.

So true! The One who was rejected is the most valuable, most precious One of all! Thank you for pointing that out, Mother of this Lot! 🙂
