I Am Confident

Philippians 2:23 – 24 “I hope, therefore, to send him as soon as I see how things go with me. And I am confident in the Lord that I myself will come soon.”

Don’t ya just love e-mail? Because of this wonderful invention, I can talk several times a day to friends across the country, and around the world. But Paul didn’t have that luxury. His dear student and friend, Timothy, would stay close until the time of Paul’s verdict. Then, when they knew the outcome of his trial, Paul would send Timothy to deliver the news.

I love Paul’s confidence, don’t you? He knew that the outcome would be good. He knew in his spirit that God wasn’t finished with him yet, and that soon enough, he would be headed to see his Philippian friends in person.

This reminds me of God’s words in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God really does have a master plan for each of us. And those plans are always good. Like Paul, we can be confident that, no matter what trial we are facing, God will soon bring us through it with hope, with victory. He is just that kind of God.

Dear Father, Thank You for Your good plans for my life. I know that as long as I follow You, I will have hope and a future.

Amen

How fortunate and blessed we are to know that we have the most high one who knows our future and who has plans to favor us and prosper us. How exciting!
