1 John 4:11 – 12: Like the Wind

I John 4:11-12 “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”

Do you ever wonder what it would be like to see God? I do. I wonder if I will fall down on my face in awe, or if I will simply stare, dumbfounded. Probably both. But the truth is, though we can’t see what God looks like, we can let others see Him. If we love others, they will see Him every time they look at us.

God created us with a deep need to be loved. He made us that way because He is the source of love, and He wants us to come to Him to fill that need! But we cannot see God, so sometimes it’s hard to convince ourselves and others that He is real. His love reminds me, in a small way, of the wind. We cannot see the wind. But we know it is there because we can see the trees and flowers moving. We know it is there because we can feel it on our faces.

When we love others with the love that only comes from God, we show the world that He is real! They can see He is real, because they can see His movement in our lives. They can know He is real, because they will feel the refreshing breeze of His love over their spirits! When we allow God to channel His love through us, those around us will be drawn to Him, and His love will be made complete in us.

Dear Father, Let Your love be made complete in me. Help me to love others in such a way that they will know You are real.
Amen
