Technically Challenged Author Forced into Longer Titles for Better SEO

Wow. I’m almost out of breath just typing that title. But it has been suggested by this person that I use longer titles with more specific key-words. I have mentally kicked and hollered and thrown a fit, because I prefer cute, snappy titles. But when it comes to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), cute and snappy apparently doesn’t do much. After all, if you were searching for a biblical commentary on 1 John 3:10, would YOU click on a post titled “Who’s Your Daddy?”

Really?

Me too. heheh

The problem is, the SEARCH ENGINE is a robot, and doesn’t “get” cuteness. So it wouldn’t even make that title available for you to click on.

Man!

So this person has suggested that for two weeks, I use really long titles with lots of key words, and just see if it brings an improvement to Morning Coffee hits. If it does, well, I suppose I’ll stay with the longer titles. If not, then cute and snappy will remain. Let me know what you think!

Oh! In other news, Mark and I will celebrate 18 years of marriage on Monday.

Little bride

Obviously, I was a child bride. πŸ˜‰

Happy Weekend, dear friends!

Congrats on eighteen years together, my friend! πŸ™‚ I may try the longer titles, too… We’ll see. But MID isn’t doing too badly… I’ve had over 300 hits in not quite four weeks of counting. I mean it’s not 5000 hits in a day or anything like that, but I really didn’t expect anybody to read my stuff… Seriously. LOL That I’ve had a few thrills me to pieces. πŸ™‚

    Have a great day!

    Renae,

Happy anniversary. We just celebrated our 42nd!

You can have really long titlesβ€”The First Part the Long Section with Keywords for SEO: Short, Snappy, Cute.

I’d hate to see your cute titles go away, so maybe you can combine the two.

Happy Anniversary to you, too, Lillie! Thanks for the tip; what a great idea! I will try that and see how it works. πŸ˜‰

You’re so cute! And your titles, too.

Numbers, numbers, numbers. We must generate those numbers.

    Love you,
    Jean

Hi Jean! Yes, we need numbers. Honestly, I’ve really stopped caring about the numbers, except that I want to help people better understand God’s Word. So I’ll do all I can, and leave the rest to him. πŸ˜‰

Now who IS the little cutie-pie in this blog-post? She looks like you to a T! But we ALL know you were NOT a child-bride!

Exactly what are you saying, Carol-Ann?

Never mind. Don’t answer that. πŸ˜‰

Happy Anniversary! Let me know how the SEO thing goes. I like to use titles that fit the piece in a special kind of way & woud hate to give that up. I tried one specific, longish title not long ago & when I googled a couple of words from it, I couldn’t even find my link after looking through the first few pages…
